Ingredients: -
350 g plain flour
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp baking soda
100 g butter
175 g soft brown sugar
1 egg
4 Tbsp Golden Syrup
METHOD: -
Preheat oven to 180'C.
Put flour, ginger and soda into a bowl and rub in the butter.
Add sugar and stir in the syrup and egg to make a firm dough.
Roll out to about 5mm thick and cut out your gingerbread men with your cookie cutter.
Put a sheet of baking paper on a tray and evenly space out the biscuits, bake for approx 10-15 mins until golden brown.
Leave to set for a couple of mins before placing on a wire rack to cool.
Once cooled, decorate with icing. Makes approximately 20 biscuits.
You can put on a plate on the Xmas table, you can use them as Xmas ornaments, or you can place them in a tin cup with candy canes and give as Xmas presents.
