
‘Sweet Matariki Moments with Cinnamon Rolls’
Ingredients:
2 cups plain flour
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbsp butter, melted
3/4 cup milk
Filling:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter, melted
Icing:
1/2 cup icing sugar
1–2 Tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a round baking dish or cake pan.
Make the dough: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add melted butter and milk. Stir until a soft dough forms.
On a floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle (approx 1 cm thick).
Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
Roll the dough tightly from the long side. Slice into 8-10 rolls.
Place rolls in the pan and bake for 20–25 mins until golden.
Make Icing:
Mix icing sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.
Serve with a hot cup of tea or coffee – Whanau time.
